SIM3里的实用英文表达（一）·职业：运动员

最近玩SIM3的时候发现里面的英文表达非常地道和实用，所以开个坑整理一下（主要是给自己看），顺便敦促自己学英语。因为本人的水平很有限，整理内容可能有错误，渣翻也可能不太准确且有意译，请大家多多包涵~（如果真的有人看这个专栏的话O.O）

没有DLC玩家选择了日落溪谷（Sunset Valley）开始游戏。最近沉迷看权游，给小人的family name起了个狼家的Stark。First name就随随便便取了个Lisa，随机骰了一个比较国泰民安的面相：

选了个人感觉比较实用的五个特征（Current traits）:

①Ambitious: Ambitious Sims dream big and are more rewarded when their wishes are satisfied in life. They are driven to move up the corporate ladder more quickly, but fall prey to low mood if they don’t quickly receive the promotion they desire.

雄心壮志的：有雄心壮志模拟市民志向远大，且当他们的愿望被满足时会更有获得感。他们被（自己的抱负）驱使，更快地向上攀爬着公司的晋升之梯，但当他们想被提拔的愿望迟迟得不到满足时会陷入负面情绪之中。

②Athletic: Athletic Sims are the best athletes in town. They can push themselves harder and longer than others, and will do so to feel the burn.

feel the burn:感受脂肪燃烧

运动的：有运动精神的模拟市民是城镇上最好的运动员。与其他人相比，他们push自己更狠且时间更长，并能通过这样做感受到燃脂的快乐。

③Charismatic: Charismatic Sims are skilled socializers, and also love to throw parties!

有魅力的：有魅力的模拟市民擅长社交，而且热爱办派对！

④Family-oriented: Family-oriented Sims make great parents. They love big families and being surrounded by their children.

顾家的：顾家的模拟市民会成为很好的父母。他们喜爱大家庭和被孩子们环绕着。

⑤Bookworm: Bookworms have a passion for reading that surpasses their other desires. They also tend to become good writers.

Lisa Stark接下来要选择一个人生愿望（Lifetime Wish），我们希望她能成为一个出色的运动员：Become a Superstar Athlete (Reach level 9 of the athletic career track)：

Championship jerseys(运动衫) are earned and worn by athletes known by their fans and teammates as Superstars. Earning a jersey means developing the utmost athletic perfection and a tight bond with teammates, thus fostering victory even when game seems lost.
只有被粉丝和队友认为是超级巨星的人才能赢取和穿上冠军球衣。赢得一件冠军球衣意味着运动事业已经臻于至善且和队友之间建立了紧密的联系，因此能够在颓势之中取得胜利。

Lisa的体坛传奇人生就此展开！

首先，刚刚步入社会的Lisa先去城镇里的Llama Memorial Stadium(美洲驼纪念运动场？)join Professional Sports Career，加入运动员职业，开启我们的晋升之路。

Lisa Stark just joined the Professional Sports Career! She will always remember the day that shaped her entire vocational path.
Running, jumping, and occasionally climbing trees for the offbeat（非传统的，不寻常的） sports networks are all in the job description of the Professional Athlete. You’ll need a strong attitude, chiseled（凿刻的，轮廓分明的，八块腹肌那种感觉） physical features, and a winning spirit to succeed in the league.

Lisa的体育生涯一共经历了十个阶段：

（每次成功获得提拔时的贺信前两句都是：Congratulations! Lisa’s impressive performance has earned her a promotion to XXX（职位）, as well as a bonus of XXX（奖金）；

末尾会用这样的句式介绍Lisa的时薪和工作时间：Lisa now makes $33 per hour and works from 3:00P.M. to 9:00 P.M.）

①Rabid fan（狂热粉丝）:

Do you love “your” team? Honest? Can you prove it? There’s a big difference between the rain or shine, win or lose, die hard fans and their fair-weather jerks that enter the stadium when it’s convenient. Grin and bear the losses along with the wins, and the team will take care of you.

Fair-weather:只适用于好天气的，不可共患难的

你热爱“你的”队伍吗？真诚的吗？你能证明吗？晴雨之间，输赢之间，不离不弃的粉丝和不能共患难，只在方便的时候才进入体育场的家伙之间是有很大区别的。笑着接受输和赢，这样你支持的队伍才会同样关照你。

⑤Rookie（新手）:

Loved by fans for your clutch saves and by the coach for your team leadership, you’re really starting to play towards that hall of fame spot. Just don’t start losing and you’ll be okay.

⑨Superstar（超级巨星）:

No longer content with a single sport, you’ve expanded your resume to include as many as your busy schedule allows. Few sports stars’ careers compare to yours, but then again, they aren’t Superstars. However, more games means more chances to lose, so don’t let the fame get in the way of your practice time.

Your on-field exploits（这里的exploits是勋绩，功绩的意思） and stats（abbr. statistics） are then envy of every little leaguer, minor leaguer, and MVP that plays any sport. You’re a Sports Legend! Every time you step onto the field thousands of cameras shutters erupt, because every play of yours will make international headlines. You’re at the top of every game that’s been created, and even some that haven’t.

Lisa的职场表现（Performance）由以下四个标准衡量：

①Mood:Arriving at work with a good mood is always helpful to job performance.

②Athletic:Improving the Athletic skill will help your Sim advance in this career.

③Teammates: Getting along with your co-workers sure makes the work day go a lot smoother, and can even help determine how successful you are at your job.

④Game record: Every professional athlete knows that it’s not just about skill; it’s about winning, baby! Keep winning games by preparing properly, getting to work with a good mood, and getting there on time.

这些标准的status都会影响她晋升的performance meter（表现衡量尺）：

（The Performance Meter combines your Sim’s mood and other factors as they rise and fall, in order to show you how close your Sim is to their next promotion.）

当你的小进度条攒满的时候就会得到升迁：

Lisa Stark earned a promotion at work! She’ll always remember the proud day that her hard work was recognized.

Lisa Stark has been busting her hump and has earned a raise at work! She won’t soon forget the feel of extra cash in her pocket.

Bust one’s hump:（美国俚语）苦干，网上还有人释义为“使出某人的洪荒之力”

在工作中你可以靠选择不同的工作状态来分别提升不同方面的表现：

①Business as Usual: Business as Usual means putting in an average amount of effort at work, and receiving an average amount of recognition for your work.

②Slack Off in Locker Room: You can’t go all out all the time. What are teammates for, right? Sure, hanging out in the locker room won’t improve your performance, but it’s a great way to keep stress levels low.

Locker room:衣帽间，更衣室 go all out:鼓足干劲，全力以赴

③Meet Team members: Nobody says you have to get along with your teammates in order to win games, but it can’t hurt to at least know who they are, right?

④Hang with Team Members: You can’t win games all by yourself, so it can’t hurt to spend some time with your teammates and build those relationships.

⑤Work Out In Gym: It’ s an athlete’s job to be fit; spending time in the gym will help you keep in shape and build your athletic skills.

⑥Prepare For Game: A pro athlete’s job is to win, and to do that you’ve always got to be prepared for the next game.

Lisa第一次去上班时，会收到这样的温馨（bushi 提示：

Lisa Stark just went to work for the first time. Another 50 years of the daily grind（苦工作） and she can retire!
五十年的做牛做马之后她就可以退休啦！

到了上班时间时，同事们的拼车会接小人一起去上班：

The carpool（拼车，共乘车） for Lisa will come in about an hour.

当然，我们的小人也有可能会不小心工作迟到：

Lisa is late for work! She will always remember checking the clock and realize it was past time to leave!

比赛前会有Pre-game Warm Up（赛前热身），如果Lisa打赢了一场比赛：

Woo-Hoo! Lisa’s team won the game! Final Score, Home:15-Away:4.

除了work out in gym以外，你还可以使用其他的健身方式来build your athletic skills。

①你可以使用shut-in treadmill（跑步机）来work out，the exercise queen（锻炼皇后？）来pump iron（举铁），还有一款叫PowerMax的单杠来do chins up（引体向上），

当第一次使用treadmill的时候，小人会摔倒：

Lisa Stark just slipped and fell on the treadmill. Such an embarrassing moment won’t be forgotten easily!

在work out时，你也可以选择不同的运动方式来达到不同的效果：

1.Basic Workout:Putting in a normal amount of effort .

2.Good Pacing: You can work out longer before getting fatigued if you pace yourself properly.

3.Don’t Break a Sweat: Work out without getting all smelly.

4.Push Self: If you don’t mind feeling sore afterwards, you can really increase your fitness and Athletic skill if you push yourself to train harder.

5.Quick Burst: Get all the benefits of exercising(as well as the drawbacks), but in much less time!

②点击TV，可以跟着电视机一起work out，可以选择strength train（力量训练）/cardio exercise（有氧运动）。

当Lisa的强度训练初见成效时：

Lisa Stark just became strong. She won’t forget the day all that working out paid off!

当Lisa的肌肉被训练到最有型时：

Holy smokes! You’re a walking example of physical perfection, a model to all who strive towards the melodious（有旋律的，悦耳的） harmony of muscles and a happy heart. Enjoy this large cash prize, perhaps to buy some new fitness equipment!

③选择swimming pool，再买一个diving board（跳水板）和 aquatic ascent ladder（游泳池里上岸的梯子），你就可以再泳池里尽情swim和dive了。点击diving board，还可以控制小人making big splash或者简简单单dive一下。

当你第一次前往游泳馆时：

Lisa Stark is felling like it is time to take a dip and is visiting the public pool. She won’t forget the refreshing cold of the water!

当你第一次游泳时：

Lisa Stark just went swimming! A dip in the water is always a time to be remembered.

当你的游泳技术颇有进展：

Graceful dives come after lots and lots practice. Be prepare to get wet!

当你成为了游泳专家：

Lisa has become an expert at diving! Now she won’t look so silly at the pool.

④还可以选择户外的path来一些jog。

如果你选择jog，除了work out的所有状态之外，还会多一个automatic（自动）的选项: choose the most efficient speed, based on distance to travel.

在通过锻炼提升自己的athletic skill的过程中，Lisa也会有层层递进的感悟：

①当Lisa第一次掌握了athletic skill时：

Lisa Stark just grasped the basics of Athletics. She’ll always remember the moment where it all started to come together（融会贯通）!

②当Lisa的运动等级达到了3级：

Lisa can now work out long enough to actually feel pumped about her progress. Nothing beats a little satisfying exercise! Using the Good Pacing option will help Lisa reach her fitness goals!

③当Lisa的运动等级达到了5级：

Lisa Stark just reached level 5 of the Athletic Skill. Each skill level gained is an opportunity for more memories!

Better, stronger, faster（更高，更快，更强）! Lisa is really starting to distinguish herself athletically. Halfway there! Go get‘em tiger!

Lisa can now push herself to get a little more out of her workouts. Be careful - muscles will cry uncle if pushed too far!

Go get them, tiger:你是最棒的，去把他们打败！ cry uncle:认输，投降

这里的get out of我理解为和bring out of意思相近，相当于榨出你的潜力，取得更好的效果的意思

④当Lisa的运动等级达到了6级：

Congratulations! Lisa just improved her Athletic Skill to level 6!

Lisa can now train friends and family that aren’t as athletically inclined. Wipe down（擦干净） that exercise equipment and get those lessons started!

获得训练他人的能力之后，小人训练其他人会得到这样的提示：

Lisa Stark just trained XXX in the athletic arts. She’ll always remember getting her student sweating.

⑤当Lisa的运动等级达到了7级：

Lisa can turn it up with a Quick Burst, tiring herself out more quickly, but with noticeably faster results.

⑥当Lisa的运动等级达到了8级：

Some Sims seek to trim a few carbs so they look good in a bathing suit, whereas others see health fitness as a 24/7 lifestyle choice. It’s time to invest in some athletic equipment!

Bathing suit:泳衣 24/7：一天24小时，一周七天，即全天候，全年无休

一些模拟市民追求少吃一些淀粉食物所以他们能在穿泳装时看起来更迷人，但其他人将健康的体魄当成一种全年无休的选择。是投资（时间、精力等）到一些健身器材的时候了！

Lisa now also has the option to avoid breaking a sweat while exercising.

⑦当Lisa的运动等级达到了10级：

Lisa Stark just became a master of Athletic! She’ll always remember when she became one of the few masters of her field!

Such a fine specimen! Lisa has put in long hours of exertion（努力，发挥，运用） and restraint（这里我理解为约束） to become one of the finest athletes in the neighborhood. Lisa should take a jog around the town to show everyone what #1 looks like in action!

Check the athletic journal for Skill Challenges to refine Lisa’s athletic skills further!

（这里的specimen我理解为人群中标杆一样的具有代表性的样品）

除此之外，我们还有机会在工作中触发一些意外事件获得升迁：

While at practice, Lisa was dared to（敢于） throw a ball up a flag pole and have it land perfectly balanced on the top. Bets were placed (mostly against Lisa) and, as the ball was handed to Lisa, all were confident in their decisions. No one expected that Lisa would actually make the shot! Not only did Lisa win a bit of spending cash, but also won the adoration of fans and teammates as well!

Flag pole：旗杆还可以注意一下打赌的表达 make the shot：成功了，投中了

At practice today Lisa pulled out all the stops and lit the field on fire with sweet moves（超赞的动作）. The coach was so impressed that he gives Lisa a promotion!

Pull out all the stops:竭尽全力，全力以赴 light the field on fire:点燃全场

在工作中，有时我们也会面临一些选择：

①The coach wants Lisa to start drinking a new energy drink that no one has ever heard of before. The coach says it will improve Lisa’s performance, but it sounds a little sketchy（粗略的，描述模糊的）. Should Lisa try one?

选择拒绝时：

Decline: Lisa refuses to drink the energy drink. The coach is a little disappointed, but Lisa feels that this may have been the right thing to do and her teammates seem to agree!

喝掉它！

Drink it: Lisa drinks the energy drink and it tastes foul. Lisa proceeds to throw up（恶心，呕吐）. The coach apologizes profusely!

Profusely：十分慷慨地，毫不吝惜地。这里是一再表示歉意的意思

②A gaggle（<口>散乱的一群，缺乏组织的团体） of reporters arrived at work today and the coach needed to show a good example of athletic supremacy（至高无上，绝对优势） to them. Thinking that Lisa would be the perfect example to show off how good their team is, he asks Lisa to perform some brutal exercises while the reporters watch. After working so hard already today should Lisa astound them with untold（这里的untold应该是无尽的，不可限量的意思） abilities or just give it the old college try?

the old college try:尽最大努力去做一件事情

吓死他们！

Astound them!：The reporters were so stunned with Lisa’s athletic abilities that their stories will probably scare the other team! The coach offers Lisa a small bonus for such a great showing!

就试试。

Just Try.: It was pretty obvious that Lisa wasn't giving it her all. The reporters weren't really impressed and neither was the coach.

在工作过程中，我们会遇到关于三个方面(Career, Skill, Special)的opportunities（机遇），这里我归档了一些Lisa遇到的关于Sports方面的：

1.肌肉对决：

Muscle Showdown(一决胜负): An assistant coach at the Stadium is holding an athletic competition to see who, out of the local athletic stratosphere（平流层，这里应该是当地运动圈中）, is at the top of their physical game. The winner walks away with a cash prize, so get to the Stadium before it ends to vie for the top spot!

力挫后起之秀，Lisaa宝刀未老：

An up and coming rookie challenged Lisa to a one-on-one showdown today in front of everyone(with no small amount of machismo（男子气概）). Lisa showed him how the game is truly meant to be played. That rookie’s face was so red! Your teammates were wonderfully impressed.

Up and coming:后起之秀的 one-on-one:一对一，单挑，如one-on-one tutoring/marketing

2.健康研讨会：

Health and Wellness Seminar: The local hospital wants you to speak about leading a healthy life through nutrition and exercise. All you need to do is go to City Hall and deliver the speech before the offer goes away. You will rise in the eyes of your superiors and increase your job performance.

热情粉丝见面会，Lisa很有面子：

Your seminar was wildly successful. Reaching a room full of avid and enthusiastic supporters is always quite satisfying, but so is being recognized for your efforts with a job performance increase.

3.教练劝练：

Add it Up: The head fitness instructor thinks you can reach the next level of your athletic journey, but not without a little effort! Improve your Athletic Skill by one level and return to the Stadium for a cash bonus.

锻炼有奖：

You really put forth a great effort and improved your athletic abilities. The officials at the Stadium like to reward such dedication with things like this cash bonus! Perhaps you can buy some new fitness equipment!

4.主动加班，同事泪目：

Ticket Counting: The stadium sold a record number of tickets at the last game. The problem is that the owner wants those tickets counted in time to make the evening news. Your co-workers want you to stay late to assist in the counting process. You’ll surely gain favor for helping out… assuming you can handle the extra hours.

Your co-workers are incredibly grateful to you for sticking around. It looks like you rose in their eyes for helping out, so perhaps the extra hours and stress were worth it after all!

5.老板：小丽下班帮我带个文件

Registering the Roster（花名册）: The team needs you to drop off these roster registration forms at City Hall soon, or else the team could get in trouble for filing（file：归档） late. Go to City Hall to perform the delivery and you’ll win the favor of your boss, as well as a job performance increase.

及时送到，老板开怀：

Your timing was just right! Now that the rosters are safely filed within the clerical（行政的） caves of City Hall, you can take time to appreciate your newly improved relationship with your boss, as well as your job performance increase.

这里的cave，我觉得应该是韦氏词典的第三个释义：a place providing privacy or seclusion from others.

6.Lisa勇应激将：

Frequent Fatigue: The folks at the Stadium’s gym want to see if you can push yourself multiple times, consistently, to the point of Fatigue. Get cracking on it and you just might earn a nice cash prize from the gym - just try not to kill yourself!

Crack on:继续疾驶，满帆前进，继续干下去

7.多元运动方式更利身体健康：

The Complete Circuit: Your fitness instructor taught you to seek variety while training to give every muscle a chance to flex（屈伸） and flourish. Vary up your routine by working out with a TV or stereo, then going for a jog, and finally by swimming for at least 30 minutes to earn a cash bonus.

Having such a wide array of fitness options available to you is reward enough, but hopefully this cash prize won’t offend!

8.阅读书籍补知识，小贩也要有文化：

Hawking the Foam Finger: Selling food and merchandise throughout the stadium is no simple task. Your boss wants you to read “Making the sale: From Hot Dogs to Foam Fingers” to complement（补足） your on-the-job training. Taking the time to read this book will build favor with your boss and increase your job performance.

9.拉练透支提上限：

Push It: The trainer at the gym claims the best athletes know how to really push themselves to get the most out of their workout and really improve their bodies. Use the “Push Self” option during your next workout to see how far you can go. Keep in mind soreness and improved Athletic Skill may result.

提高潜力，还没受伤：

You pushed yourself harder than normal and didn’t sustain injury! you probably shouldn’t push yourself to every workout, but it’s nice to learn your limits from time to time.

10.知己知彼，百战百胜：

Playbook（剧本，手册） Notes: The team thinks you can gain an advantage over the local rival team by watching them practice. Take some personal time to watch a scrimmage（混战，并列争球） at the stadium and take notes on the plays the teams use. Your job performance will surely increase as a result.

笔记受表扬：

The team examined your notes and found them to be excellent, detailed, and insightful. You certainly learned enough to merit（值得，应获得） the job performance increase.

11.业余奥林匹克：

Amateur Olympics: The Stadium Committee is encouraging all Sims to come try out in the Amateur Olympics. In addition to feeling good about yourself, you might also win a cash prize!

12.刷“创高”：
